Navy Lacrosse with historic Victory

It is a few days old but definitely worth mentioning that the Navy Lacrosse team beat the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays.  Its big for a few reasons, any win against a Top 25 team is big especially when your fighting for the postseason.  The biggest reason it's a big deal is that it was the first time Navy beat the Blue Jays in lacrosse since 1974.

This streak is comparable to the 43 year losing streak the Navy football team suffered at the hands of the Fighting Irish before 2007.  One reason I believe that it's not getting as much press as it should is that Navy is not having its best of seasons.  Even with the win against Hopkins, Navy is just 6-7 on the season heading into its Patriot League Tournament this weekend.  Navy will most likely have to win the tournament to get into the big dance, which might not be to difficult.  Navy has dominated the Patriot League since entering.  Navy has won 5 of the last 6 Patriot League Tournaments, their only failure coming in 2008.  Though many Navy fans will consider this season a disappointment if Navy does not qualify for the NCAA Tournament, all Navy lacrosse fans will never forget the name of Andy Warner (scored the winning goal in OT), and the 10,000 plus in attendance wont forget the day they got to witness history.
