Dirt bike death

A few weeks ago we hammered away at illegal dirt bikes in Baltimore City. Calls poured in about tourists and locals alike being terrorized by packs of guys on dirt bikes screaming through downtown . Popping wheelies, riding on the side-walk etc , basically ruining the quality of life downtown.   We posted a video of a trailer by a documentary film maker called Wild Out Wheelie Boyz and even had a few of the guys on air.  Of all the many obvious problems the most important was the danger created by these guys. I was frustrated by the lack of attention given to the problem and said that the only time it would become important was when somebody was killed.

Well, now it's happened. A 44 year old motorcyclist was killed after he swerved to avoid a guy riding a dirt bike with a two year old on it with him.  The man on the motorcycle was killed and the dirt biker simply picked up his bike, left the toddler alone in an alley and fled.  This story is disturbing for many, many reasons and needs little from me to get you outraged.  All that aside, the worst has happened...someone has been killed.  Is now the time to address the problem? If not now then when?  How many need to die before the city acts to fix this problem?
