Woman Sexually Assaulted In Howard County

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― A woman exercising in Howard County is attacked and the suspect is still on the loose. Police are now hoping someone can identify him before he strikes again.

Andrea Fujii reports.

It was early Saturday evening in Jessup when a woman jogging on the sidewalk up Castleford Drive was attacked.

"The man grabbed her, threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her," said Howard County police spokesperson, Sherry Llewellyn.

The woman was able to fight back, run away and then call 911 with her cell phone.

In this normally safe neighborhood residents are now on edge.

"By far the scariest thing that I've heard happening," said resident, Troy Farrin.

"For me it's really scary. I'm just so surprised that it would happen in this area because it's really quiet," said another resident, Regina Thomas.

The victim described the suspect as a 35 to 50 year-old white or hispanic man, wearing dark clothing.

Police warn everyone to be more cautious this time of year.

"It's getting darker earlier now and people are in their routines of exercise and we just want people to remember how important it is that they take safety precautions," said Llewellyn.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area. If you have any information, call Howard County Police.
