DC Police ID Teenage Girl Found In Trash Can

WASHINGTON (AP) -- D.C. police have identified the body of a teenage girl found in a trash can in northwest Washington.

Police identified the girl as 17-year-old Ebony Franklin of Capitol Heights, Md. Authorities say she had been fatally stabbed and stuffed in a trash barrel in an alley in the 1000-block of Fairmont Street in Columbia Heights. Her body was found Monday by a passer-by.

Prince George's County police spokesman Cpl. Clinton Copeland says the girl had been reported missing by her mother on Saturday night.

Police say the girl lived with her mother, and often visited her father in northwest Washington.
