Pedestrian, 73, Killed By Car Near Hancock, Md.

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old rural Hancock man who was killed when he was struck by a car while walking across a state highway to his mailbox.

Police say Mark Martin was pronounced dead Thursday evening on Route 144 at Casper Road.

They say he was struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile sport utility vehicle driven by 54-year-old Ronda Ward of rural Hancock.

Police were notified of the incident shortly after 6:30 p.m.
