HANCOCK, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old rural Hancock man who was killed when he was struck by a car while walking across a state highway to his mailbox.

Police say Mark Martin was pronounced dead Thursday evening on Route 144 at Casper Road.

They say he was struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile sport utility vehicle driven by 54-year-old Ronda Ward of rural Hancock.

Police were notified of the incident shortly after 6:30 p.m.

    thanks for who ever saw that we need more people like that person who seen it happen it’s a lot of that happen and we need to tell on these people theygo throught the red light and some still on phone it’s time to speak up about this we don’t have know right away know more she need to be under neather the jail”
