Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Hancock, Md.

HANCOCK, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a 73-year-old man was struck and killed by a car when he was walking across Western Pike in Hancock to get his mail.

It happened Thursday about 6:40 p.m. Troopers say a car driven by 54-year-old Ronda Ward of Hancock was traveling west on Western Pike when she struck Mark Martin of Hancock.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene. Ward was not hurt, but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The accident is under investigation.
