The Citadel Defeats St. Mary's (Md.) 72-64

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Zach Urbanus scored 15 points to lead five players in double figures and The Citadel defeated St. Mary's (Md.) 72-64 on Monday night.

Cameron Wells added 14, Austin Dahn and Bryan Streeter 11 and Mike Groselle 10 for the Bulldogs (3-5).

Wells scored five points as The Citadel outscored the Seahawks 9-0 to start the game.

The Bulldogs scored 31 points off 21 turnovers by the Division III Seahawks.

The Citadel, which beat St. Mary's 102-53 in the teams' only previous meeting on Dec. 18, 1995, shot 50 percent from the field (27 of 54), including a 7-of-11 effort from Urbanus.

Streeter had eight rebounds and Groselle chipped in seven boards off the bench.

The Citadel went up by as many as 16, 64-48, on a 3 by Urbanus with 6:45 to play.

Alex Franz led the Seahawks (5-2) with 25 points. Sam Burum chipped in 15 as St. Mary's three-game winning streak ended.
