BLOG: Don't Underestimate Gaither Loss

John Harbaugh said this week the Ravens need to get back to running the ball.  They're averaging just 3.6 yards per carry, worst in the NFL, and more than a yard less than last year.  Why?  Don't forget about the loss of Jared Gaither, who hasn't played a down.  People just assume Michael Oher is a suitable replacement.  But with Oher moving to left tackle, you now have 3 guys playing different positions than last year.  Oher was the Ravens right tackle last year. Marshall Yanda was the right guard, but is now right tackle. And Chris Chester was supposed to be a back-up and now he is the right guard.  That's 60% of your line potentially not in the ideal situation.  Every team has injuries, and it's not an excuse, but it might just be a big reason why the Ravens can't run the football.
