Crash Injures School Bus Driver In Md; Students OK

EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -- A school bus driver is recovering from injuries she sustained when a pickup truck hit the rear of the vehicle loaded with students in Emmitsburg.

Doug Orner of the Vigilant Hose Co. says emergency responders examined five students for injuries after the crash Thursday afternoon but no one was taken to the hospital.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says the crash occurred as the bus driver was attempting to turn right onto Creamery Road from the eastbound lane of East Main Street around 3:35 p.m.

Hal Keller of Frederick County Public Schools says a ladder affixed to the top of the truck broke free and smashed a window on the back of the bus.
