Md. Heroin Death Brings Dealer A 14-Year Sentence

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A western Maryland drug dealer is going to prison for conspiring to distribute heroin in a case stemming from a fatal overdose.

Twenty-three-year-old Mark Bryan of Maugansville was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore to 14 years behind bars followed by five years of supervised release.

Bryan was sentenced under a plea agreement stemming from the October 2008 death of Curt Bannon of Boonsboro.

Bryan acknowledged that prosecutors could prove he sold heroin to Bannon on the night Bannon died in his bedroom at his parents' house.

Bryan also acknowledged his role in a string of drugstore robberies in Washington and Baltimore counties in 2009.
