Man Indicted On Military Recruiting Bomb Plot
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore man accused of plotting to kill military recruiters with a car bomb has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
Antonio Martinez, also known as Muhammad Hussain, was indicted Tuesday on charges of attempted murder of federal officers and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. He faces a possible life sentence.
A preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday was canceled.
The indictment contains no new details about the case against Martinez, who was charged earlier this month in a detailed criminal complaint. The affidavit details how Martinez, 21, was caught in an FBI sting operation and given a phony bomb by an informant. He was arrested after he allegedly tried to detonate the phony bomb outside a military recruiting center in Catonsville.
