Woman Gets Probation For Smuggling Items Into Jail
ELKTON, Md. (AP) -- A judge has sentenced a woman who helped smuggle contraband into the Cecil County Detention Center to 18 months of probation.
Cassie Jo Heath, 24, of Whiteford was also ordered to take part in a residential drug treatment program at sentencing on Monday.
Heath pleaded guilty in October to conspiracy.
Police say Heath and Jeremiah Bishop, 28, delivered contraband, including knives, marijuana, tobacco, lighters and cell phones into the facility through a broken window.
The broken window was in a cell occupied by Heath's brother, Bruce Heath II, also of Whiteford.
Bruce Heath and Bishop both pleaded guilty in the case.
