Delmarva Power Seeks Rate Increase In Maryland

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Delmarva Power is asking Maryland state regulators to authorize an increase in electric delivery rates for the company's nearly 200,000 Maryland customers.

Delmarva asked the Maryland Public Service Commission on Tuesday to approve the increase. The change would add 2.8 percent to monthly residential electric bills and would take effect July 21, 2011.

The company says the proposed $17.8 million increase reflects rising costs and upgrades to the electric system.
