Maryland Names Search Committee For Football Coach

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Former Wisconsin athletic director Pat Richter will play a key role in the search to find Maryland's new head football coach.

Richter is the lead consultant of DHR International, an executive search firm hired by Maryland as part of a search
committee find a replacement for Ralph Friedgen, whose last game will be the Military Bowl on Dec. 29.

Maryland senior associate athletic director and chief financial officer Randy Eaton will chair the search committee.

Other members of the search committee are: Dr. Linda Clement, vice president for student affairs; Barry Gossett, university benefactor and assistant treasurer of University System of Maryland Board of Regents; Larry Grabenstein, chairman of Maryland Gridiron Network and past president of Terrapin Club; Cheryl Harrison, senior associate athletic director for development; Robert W. Smith, university alumnus and benefactor; and Dr. Charles Wellford,
faculty athletics representative and faculty member in department of criminology and criminal justice.
