Ramirez To Sponsor Md. Dream Act

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Sen.-Elect Victor Ramirez says he plans to sponsor legislation to allow illegal immigrants to receive in-state tuition at public colleges and universities in the state.

Ramirez, a Prince George’s County Democrat, made the announcement in a news release Monday night that he plans to sponsor Maryland Dream Act legislation.

His announcement comes as Democrats in Congress failed for a second time to win passage of the federal Dream Act, which would have given hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants a chance at legal status.

Ramirez was the lead sponsor of the legislation when it passed the Maryland House in 2007. He says the new makeup of the Maryland Senate gives the bill a good chance of passing this year.

Does the Senator not understand the word “illegal”

    • maryland

He just may be one of them.

Apparently the senator doesn’t understand that American tax payers are sick and tired of their tax dollars going to illegals and all of their entitlements. Wake up Ramirez and do your job which is to work for the betterment of AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!!

Not surprising – he’s from PG county – home of democrats and giveaways. But then again, so is most of Maryland. He’s probably an illegal himself.

Search CASA de Maryland. That is what Ramirez supports. He needs to be voted out.

I don’t think it would be legal. There is no way he can propose that we pay for college for illegals, just insanity.

    • Carole

The bill does not propose for taxpayers to pay for illegal immigrant education rather to allow the children of immigrants who have attended U.S. schools their whole lives to pay in-state tuition. They would pay – not the taxpayers.

  • Maryland III

Obviously he must work with Reid and Pelois

Jee-zuss… he we go again! I can’t imagine Ramirez being able to give even ONE good reason for his position. Why should taxpayers have to subsidize illegals at state colleges. For crying out loud, subsidize someone here legally if you feel the overwhelming compulsion to give away something, Senator.

How about my version of the Dream Act? I dream that I can get a another job so I can dream about paying my bills and putting food on my table. I dream that PG, Montgomery, and Baltimore City will secede from the State and give Maryland a chance to be more than a one-party monopoly. I dream that liberals will one day awaken from their feel-good stupor and discover that their socialistic giveaways and “social tax policies” will bankrupt the State and this country. I dream….. and Dream …. and Dream…..

Great, AA Co wants to deport illegals who fail the fingerprint database check & this jerk wants to allow them to go to school here for free. What part of “illegal” does he not understand????
