BLOG: Happy New Year, Everyone!

We are going to be brief today because there are not many weather issues to talk about.

There is another storm on the way, but it is not getting here until later tomorrow.  Ahead of it, the warmth has come flooding into the state.  Temperatures topped out near 50 degrees this afternoon and will only drop into the upper 30s for midnight.  Then, we are going right back up into the 50s again tomorrow despite a lot of clouds around.

The storm moving our way is a real big one over the Mississippi Valley, producing deadly tornadoes in Arkansas and Missouri.  There were also numerous tornadoes around St. Louis up into Illinois.  This storm will peak in intensity tonight/early tomorrow before weakening as it moves eastward.  For us, there could be scattered showers late tomorrow, and some scattered rain around on Sunday.  It's a slow mover and won't get out of here until Monday.

Cooler air will follow the storm early next week.  Highs will be back down in the 40s Monday and Tuesday, as a weak storm comes through with some clouds.  Even cooler air will follow for the second half of the week behind that storm.  We may be back down in the 30s for highs by Wednesday.

Have a safe and happy holiday, everyone!
