Bernstein To Take Over As Baltimore's State's Attorney
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore is getting a new top prosecutor.
Gregg Bernstein will be sworn in Monday as the city's state's attorney.
Bernstein won a hard-fought Democratic primary over longtime incumbent Patricia Jessamy, blaming her for failing to secure long prison terms for repeat violent offenders. The defense attorney and former federal prosecutor also pledged to build a better relationship with police.
Bernstein raised three times as much money as Jessamy. He was unopposed in the general election.
