BALTIMORE (WJZ) — ‘Tis the season for a roaring fire.

Mary Bubala has some tips to reduce heat loss from your fireplace.

Always keep the flue damper closed unless a fire is going.

Keeping the flue open is like keeping a window wide open during the winter, allowing warm air to go right up the chimney.

Make sure you check the seal on the fireplace damper and make sure it’s as snug as possible.
