Magazine: Md. Colleges Ranked As Best Value

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine has ranked the University of Maryland at College Park as fifth on its list of the 100 best values in public colleges.

Four other Maryland colleges made the annual list, including Salisbury University, Towson University, St. Mary's College of Maryland and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The magazine also placed the University of Delaware as 29th on its list.

Kiplinger's says the colleges were ranked according to academic quality, student-faculty ratios and four- and six-year graduation rates. Cost and financial aid were also factors.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is No. 1 for the 10th time since Kiplinger began its analysis in 1998.

The ranking appears in the magazine's February 2011 issue and online.
