Bench Players Lead Coppin State Past Howard 84-53

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Michael Harper scored 18 points off the bench and the rest of Coppin State's reserves played strong against Howard in an 84-53 rout on Monday night.

The Eagles' bench pitched in with 52 points while Coppin State held Howard's reserves to just four. Jordan Lee finished with 14 points and Vince Goldsberry had 10 points and six assists.

Akeem Ellis, who scored 10 points, was the only starter to score in double figures for Coppin State (6-8, 1-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). The Eagles dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bison 40-16.

Coppin State shot 54 percent (34 of 63) from the floor, knocking down 10 3-pointers for the game.

Anton Dickerson scored 16 points for Howard (2-13, 0-3), which shot just 37 percent (17 of 46) from the field. Alphonso Leary had 13 points and Mike Phillips added 10 points with seven turnovers.
