Cameron To Return As Ravens Offensive Coordinator

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron will be retained by coach John Harbaugh, who could soon receive a contract extension after taking Baltimore to the playoffs for a third straight year.

Cameron’s offense was ranked 22nd during the regular season and finished 16th in scoring despite the addition of receivers Anquan Boldin, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Donte’ Stallworth. The Ravens could muster only 28 yards in offense in the second half of Saturday’s 31-24 defeat at Pittsburgh.

But Harbaugh said Monday that he will count on Cameron to run the offense in 2011.

“Cam Cameron is our offensive coordinator. That’s how we’re going forward,” Harbaugh said. “We had a tough year statistically but we did win a lot of games.

“We are going to be a top-notch offense in the National Football League. That’s going to happen. … The bottom line is we’ve had bad quarters, we’ve had bad halves. We’re going to find a way to be a top-rated offense.”

Baltimore went 12-4 during the regular season and defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the playoffs before blowing a 14-point lead against the Steelers. Despite the disappointing finish, the Ravens were one of only three teams (with Philadelphia and Indianapolis) to reach the playoffs for a third successive season.

Under Harbaugh, the Ravens are 32-16 in the regular season and won at least one postseason game in each of his three seasons as an NFL head coach. Before his arrival, Baltimore had never before reached the playoffs in three successive seasons.

“We’re working on an extension for John and expect to have it done soon,” team president Dick Cass said Monday.

Harbaugh has one year left on his current contract.

After endorsing Cameron, Harbaugh said he’s hopeful of retaining the other coaches on his staff, including quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn.

hey why not send Joe Flacco to Steve Clackson’s quarterback school over the off season. He let a lot of plays on the field this season because he dosen’t servey the whole field. Ben Rothlisberger is a former student.
