Tilghman Man Charged With Oyster Poaching

CRISFIELD, Md. (AP) — Maryland Natural Resources Police say a 23-year-old Tilghman man has been charged with poaching oysters.

Natural Resources Police say 12 bushels of oysters were seized from a boat operated by John Haddaway after he was observed dredging Monday in the Tangier Sound Oyster Sanctuary northwest of Crisfield. Natural Resources Police say the oysters were returned to the sanctuary and Haddaway was charged with taking oysters from a sanctuary.

A March 31 trial date was set for Haddaway in Somerset County District Court.
