Cherry Hill Man Murdered In Front Of Wife & Kids

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Murdered in front of his own wife and kids. Police are trying to figure out who gunned down a Cherry Hill man in broad daylight in front of his own house.

Derek Valcourt spoke one-on-one with the victim's wife about what happened.

She witnessed the whole thing as her husband was gunned down before her. The killers wore masks.

At the intersection of Ascension and Swale in Cherry Hill, there's a growing memorial for 29-year-old Harry Hicks, who volunteered as a youth football coach and worked with children at his job at the Patapsco Recreation Center.

"It all happened so fast," said Melody Hicks, victim's wife. "It still hasn't hit me to the reality of it all, what happened. It was so sudden."

His wife and their two children were there around 4:30 p.m. Saturday when she says two masked gunmen shot her husband multiple times as they were leaving their house.

"It just all happened suddenly. As soon as we were getting in the car, I  just heard gunshots, and the next thing I know my husband is on the ground," Melody Hicks said.

Police investigating say they don't know the motive behind Harry Hicks' murder. His wife is just as puzzled.

"I have no idea. My husband was a friend to everyone. Not aware of any enemies. Everyone loved my husband. It was a shock," said Melody Hicks.

Melody says her faith has kept her strong, but she worries about the impact that witnessing the murder will have on her two children.

"My husband loved family, he loved friends, he loved hanging out. He loved to make everyone have a good time," she said. "That's pretty much what I want them to remember about my husband and how he loved the youth and he loved life."

There were two gunman," Melody Hicks continued. "I want justice for my husband. He deserved that much."

Police are interviewing a number of witnesses, but say right now they have no suspects in the case.

Hicks was a life-long resident of Cherry Hill. His was the second murder in that neighborhood this week.
