Architectural Firm Named To Design 9/11 Memorial

BALTIMORE (AP) -- State arts officials say a Baltimore architectural firm has been selected to lead the design of Maryland's 9/11 memorial.

The Maryland State Arts Council said on Monday that Ziger/Snead had been selected to lead the design and architecture of the memorial.

The memorial will incorporate steel beams from the Twin Towers and will honor the 48 Marylanders who lost their lives that day, their families and the 9/11 rescuers.

The memorial is scheduled to be unveiled on the 10th anniversary of the terror attacks. It will be located on the plaza of the World Trade Center in the Inner Harbor.
