Roads Dangerous, Thousands Without Power In Md.

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Maryland highways remain dangerous and thousands are still without power after the region's first major winter storm of the season.

State Highway Administrator Neil Pedersen says lanes were open on most highways Thursday morning, but in many merge lanes have not been plowed and interchanges remain treacherous.

Meanwhile, Baltimore Gas and Electric says about 95,065 remain without power as of 9 a.m., mostly in Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties. Spokesman Rob Gould says that number could rise as the snow pulls more limbs and trees over power lines. He says the utility currently has reports of 1,700 power lines down.
