State Senator Called To National Guard Training

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- State Sen. J.B. Jennings, who is an Air National Guardsman, has been called to duty.

Jennings, a Republican who represents Baltimore and Harford counties, will be on a federal training mission at Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia.

The mission begins Jan. 30 and ends April 30.

While Jennings says the timing isn't perfect because the Maryland General Assembly is in session, he says he intends to return home for voting sessions and other meetings as his training schedule allows at personal and not taxpayer expense.

Jennings, 36, says he will be in contact with his staff and other senators, particularly those on the Senate Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee on which he services.
