Water Main Break In Cockeysville

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. (WJZ/AP) --Public works crews have isolated a water main break in the Cockeysville area.

Baltimore Department of Public Works spokesman Kurt Kocher says water has been rerouted around the break and that only 200 homes are now affected.

The break occurred around 4 a.m. Thursday on Lakespring Way and caused a large sinkhole to open in the road. Kocher says it's believed to be a broken valve on a 12-inch main.

People in the area were asked to conserve their water all day long. Baltimore County officials lifted the voluntary water conservation advisory around 6 p.m.

As of 10 p.m. Thursday night, the Department of Public Works tells us they're still working on repairs to bring water back to those 200 homes.
