Man Accused In Slaying Had Active Warrant

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Law enforcement officials say a teenager accused of killing a man this month in Forestville was charged with attempted murder in 2009, but Prince George's County sheriff's deputies didn't serve the arrest warrant until after the more recent slaying.

Records show a warrant was issued for the arrest of Dounte Douglass on Oct, 21, 2009, but it wasn't served until Jan. 11 of this year. Douglass had been accused of shooting a man with whom he'd been involved in an ongoing dispute.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Sharon Taylor says deputies tried to serve the warrant twice in December 2010, but Douglass was not home. She could not explain why no attempt was made to serve the warrant earlier.

Douglass, 19, of Capitol Heights, is now charged in the slaying of Corteza Livingston, 21, on Jan. 8.
