Crews Treating Roads In Md., Del. Ahead Of Storm

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Highway crews in Maryland and Delaware are pretreating roads in anticipation of a winter storm that's expected to bring freezing rain, sleet and possibly snow.

The bad weather is expected to arrive late Monday or early Tuesday.

David Buck with the Maryland State Highway Administration says crews are salting roads from western Maryland to the Eastern Shore, with the exception of the Lower Shore which is expected to receive only rain.

Mike Williams with the Delaware Department of Transportation says roads in New Castle and Kent counties are being treated with a brine mixture that helps prevent ice from forming.

Officials at both agencies are optimistic that this storm won't be as disruptive as last week's storm, which dumped more than an inch of snow during rush hour.
