Susan Turnbull Leaving Md. Democratic Party Chair

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The head of Maryland's Democratic Party says she's stepping down.

Susan Turnbull said Wednesday she will leave the post March 5, when a new chair will be chosen.

Turnbull, who served as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2005 until 2009, says party chairs typically leave shortly after an election cycle.

Turnbull also says she plans to continue work for a nonprofit organization called Jewish Women International.
