Rider Rallies To Edge Loyola (Md.) 61-60

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) -- Danny Stewart hit a free throw with 3 seconds left to give Rider a 61-60 come-from-behind victory over Loyola (Md.) on Friday night.

Novar Gadson scored 17 -- including his 1,000th career point --Justin Robinson 15 and Stewart 13 for the Broncs (16-8, 8-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), who have won four of their last five.

Rider trailed 59-52 with 3:19 left, then went on an 8-0 run.

Robinson hit a 3-pointer, Stewart scored on a layup and then Robinson converted a three-point play with 49 seconds left for 60-59.

Robert Olson, who paced the Greyhounds with 17 points, hit the second of two foul shots to tie it with 23 seconds left.

Then Stewart, who had missed three earlier free throws, hit the front end of a 1-and-1.

With Rider ahead 16-9 early, Loyola (11-11, 7-5) went on a 20-4 run, capped by a dunk by Erik Etherly, who finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
