5 Hospitalized After Knifings In Md. Bar Fight

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Police in Cumberland say five people are recovering from injuries after an angry tavern patron pulled out a knife and began slashing those trying to restrain him.

Cpl. Scott Saeler said Monday that the violence erupted early Sunday morning at Reds Bar on South Centre Street. He says none of the injuries was life-threatening.

Saeler says the incident began when somebody bumped somebody else. He says it was a typical bar fight until Justin Nizer, 31, pulled out a knife.

Police say five people went to the hospital, four with stab wounds.

Nizer is being held at the Allegany County jail with bail set at $50,000. He faces 15 charges, including attempted second-degree murder.
