FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — The U.S. Postal Service is considering moving some of its Frederick mail-processing and distribution operations to Baltimore.

District spokeswoman Yvette Singh said Thursday that the Frederick plant has 192 employees. She declined to say how many might be affected by consolidation.

Singh says mail volume nationally has declined by 20 percent since 2007. She says the declining revenue can’t sustain the cost of the processing and delivery network, and it makes sense to put workers where they are needed.

Singh says no decisions have been made. She says the Postal Service welcomes public comments as it studies the matter.

Is this the new factoid that WJZ sensationalized as the “potential end of the postal service”? Please stop over-marketing and sensationalizing the news and just present the actual facts. That would be novel in and of itself, and less insulting to your audience. We’ve stopped intentionally watching WJZ unless we want to entertain ourselves with the degree of desperation and exageration in your management’s headlines and hooks to capture and keep the attention of anyone that will listen. It’s truly a sad statement on many fronts. Also sad and beyond your control is that WJZ’s degree of garish colors and sensationalizing is what it really takes in this info overloaded and consciousness- & thinking-challenged culture to get people’s attention…as short-lived as it seems to be.
