BLOG: Mild Air On The Way

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The morning was a cold one, but there's a lot of better weather to look forward to in the coming week. With relatively light winds Friday and Friday night, the temperature should be close to 40 degrees and no lower than the 20s in most of the viewing area tonight.

As we've discussed in recent days, the jet stream's flow will be taking on a much more "zonal" look, with winds across the continental United States blowing from west to east, and lacking any major troughs or ridges.  In this kind of set-up, air originating from the Pacific Ocean will be spreading into the Eastern Region over time.

That is why there will be no major cold intrusions, and even though rising temperatures Sunday and Monday will be reversed for a brief period of time on Tuesday/Tuesday night, there won't be any arctic invasion.  That "cooler" weather trend will also be short-lived.

We're still on track to see most temperatures returning to the 50s next Wednesday, and it could wind up close to 60 degrees on Thursday or Friday.

Have a good day !!!
