Coppin State Beats South Carolina State 70-62

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Tony Gallo scored 15 points and hit a 3-pointer that sparked a game-winning rally as Coppin State defeated South Carolina State 70-62 on Saturday.

The Eagles trailed 60-58 at the 3:15 mark when consecutive 3-pointers by Gallo and Michael Harper started a 10-0 run. The Eagles went 6 of 7 from the foul line the rest of the way.

Vince Goldsberry added 12 points and Ceslovas Kucinskas had 10 for the Eagles (11-11, 6-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), who have won six of their past eight games.

Coppin State made 15 of 20 free throws, while the Bulldogs shot only six free throws, making four.

South Carolina State outshot the Eagles from the field 43.6 percent (24 of 55) to 40 percent (24 of 60).

Darnell Porter had 16 points and Brandon Riley added 11 for the Bulldogs (6-18, 2-9), who have lost three games in a row and nine of their past 10.
