Loyola Defeats Canisius 72-57

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Justin Drummond scored a career-high 22 points and Loyola (Md.) used a 42-13 run to defeat Canisius 72-57 on Sunday. 

The Greyhounds (13-12, 9-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) trailed 24-12 midway through the opening half before going on a 20-4 run to enter halftime with a 34-28 advantage. 

Loyola started the second half on a 22-9 run, capped by a layup from Drummond with 11:49 left to play, to extend its lead to 54-37. 

Erik Etherly added 18 points and Shane Walker chipped in 13 for the Greyhounds, who outscored Canisius 49-32 in the paint and 22-10 on second-chance points. 

The Golden Griffins (13-12, 7-8) shot 11 for 30 from the floor in the second half (36.7 percent) and committed 20 turnovers, leading to 18 points for Loyola. 

Elton Frazier scored 20 points and Alshwan Hymes added 12 for Canisius, which had its three-game winning streak snapped.
