Man Shoots Motorist, Himself In Charles Co.

WHITE PLAINS, Md. (AP) -- Police in Charles County say a man shot and killed a male acquaintance inside a car, then fatally shot himself.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at an intersection in White Plains. Charles County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson says the victim was at a stop sign when the gunman pulled up beside him and prevented him from driving forward.

The gunman got out of the car and fired several shots, at least two of which struck the victim. He then turned the gun on himself.

Richardson says the gunman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the victim was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he died.

She says both men were in their 20s and knew each other. Police are trying to confirm a possible motive for the shooting.
