Md.'s Hood College Retains President Through 2016
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Hood College President Ron Volpe says he has verbally agreed to a five-year extension that will keep him at the school in Frederick through 2016.
Volpe told The Frederick News-Post on Monday that he expects to end his academic career at Hood.
He says he fell in love with Hood College shortly after he was hired as president in 2001.
Volpe oversaw a transition of the school's residential student body from all women to mixed-gender in 2003. The change boosted enrollment and staved off financial woes.
Volpe says that in the next five years, Hood will unveil new course offerings and continue upgrading campus facilities.
