Ravens KR Reed Avoids Jail, Fine In Marijuana Case

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) — Baltimore Ravens kick returner David Reed has resolved a marijuana charge against him without paying a fine or receiving jail time.

The case is now closed, according to Maryland district court records. Reed addressed the case Friday rather than going to trial next week.

Reed was issued a summons for misdemeanor possession of marijuana last month after police entered his residence in December and found a small amount of the drug.

Reed’s attorney entered a plea other than guilty or not guilty and received a “stet” on the docket of Baltimore County District Court. That means Reed was granted a conditional stay on all further proceedings on the charge.

According to a court clerk, this legal ruling operates in a similar manner to being placed on unsupervised probation.

As long as Reed remains out of trouble for the next three years, the case will remain closed.

good, it’s time to leave marijuana users alone & stop wasting govt. time & money & filling the courts & jails with people who are the equivalent of a martini drinker.

Even if he does smoke marajuana, they broke the fourth amendment by entering his house and searching without a warrant. He could’ve gotten off scot free had he brought this up.

      Nick,

The cops did have a warrant to search his apt. Check your facts before defecate through your mouth again.

Pro athletes that get caught w/ drugs should be banned for life. I don’t care how safe and cool you think pot is, it is illegal.

  4. Herman Glimsher says:

HE SHOULD BE CUT FROM THE RAVENS!!!! MAYBE THE POLICE HAD PROBABLE CAUSE TO ENTER THE HOUSE…..DON’T NEED A WARRANT THEN.

I am sure he could afford a lawyer good enough to dismiss an illegal search, so it was obviously a legal one. I agree, the NFL needs a zero tolerance policy and he should be banned from the game for life, or at least until his case clears the STET dockett. Some people think marijuana is “no big deal” or “no worse than alcohol”, but the fact of the matter is that it is ILLEGAL (without a medical prescription). The NFL is full of criminals and thugs (and think how many of them get off on charges because they can afford high powered lawyers). The NFL really needs to consider that football players are heroes to many, especially kids, and they should be held to a very high standard of conduct. For the millions they make, is that so much to ask?

Maybe he was dealing. Maybe an ex girlfriend had a case of the ass for him…….Me thinks both.

If it was a normal person we would be in jail why isnt he now we got a drugie on the ravens and a stabber ray lewis who paid someone to take the fall for him. all we need now is vick.

    1. GCF says:

Nobody receives jail time for posession of a small amount of marijuana if it’s their first offense, and they have no prior record.
