Hartford Defeats UMBC 64-57 Despite Fry's 20-20

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Joe Zeglinski scored 22 points and Hartford held on to beat Maryland-Baltimore County 64-57 on Saturday night, despite a 20-point, 20-rebound effort by the Retrievers' Justin Fry.

Zeglinski and Genesis Maciel each hit three 3-pointers for the Hawks (9-18, 6-8 America East Conference) in the first half, when they took a 33-17 lead. Maciel finished with 13 points.

The Retrievers (5-23, 4-11) shot just 20.8 percent (5 of 24) in the first half but came back in the second, when they shot 51.8 percent (14 of 27).

A layup by Fry, who was playing his final home game for UMBC, brought the Retrievers within 53-50 with 4:28 remaining in the game, but that was as close as they got. Zeglinski scored six of his points down the stretch for Hartford.

Fry is the first Hartford player to get at least 20 points and at least 20 rebounds in the same game in the Hawks' 25 seasons in Division I.
