Maryland SPCA Gets A Facelift
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's a brand new day at the Maryland SPCA after the building gets a facelift. Dozens of dogs and cats now have state-of-the-art temporary homes, which means more may end up in permanent ones.

The dogs are digging their new digs.
"We have new doors and panels for them to hide if they're stressed, new floors, and even some sound absorption material so the barking won't be as stressful," said Aileen Gabbey, executive director of the Maryland SPCA.
All the work was possible thanks to $2 million in donations. Crews finished just in time to take in a new wave of stray cats. One was brought in with scars all down her back.
As cats move to their new temporary homes, the custom designs promise to get more animals adopted.
"People will actually be able to walk into the room and wait for the cat to approach them, which creates better matches," said Nicole Miller, behavior manager.
Last year, the Maryland SPCA adopted out more than 3,200 animals and spayed and neutered more than 8,000.
The SPCA is open for business, but they also will hold a special open house on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
