Frederick County Cuts 38 Jobs To Cut Costs
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Commissioners say they are cutting 38 county jobs to reduce costs.
Board President Blaine Young said Friday that 23 employees will lose their jobs and 15 vacant positions will be eliminated.
Young says the reduction in salaries and benefits will total more than $2.4 million starting July 1, the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Over the past two months, the board has announced the elimination of 126 full-time jobs.
The county has about 2,200 full-time and 117 part-time workers.
