High Winds Damage Historic Annapolis Home
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- High winds have damaged a historic home in Annapolis.
City spokesman Phill McGowan said police were called to the Chase-Lloyd House on Friday and found that one corner of the roof would lift up in heavy wind gusts and then settle back down. Parts of the roof continued to peel off Friday night during high winds.
The home, which serves as a retirement home for six women, was evacuated.
Construction on the Chase-Lloyd House began in 1769. The home's original owner, Samuel Chase, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a U.S. Supreme Court justice.
