The intense winds yesterday left damage all around the state. Winds topped out at 60-68 mph in numerous counties and BWI-Marshall topped out at 59 mph.
Winds died down overnight, and then turned around to the southeast today. That’s because a new storm is moving our way. In fact, there are a few different storms lined up to move toward the Mid-Atlantic. The first of these storms is already passing north of us tonight. It will head out to sea tomorrow, just as a second storm comes in from the Midwest. Clouds will mix with some sunshine tomorrow in between the storms, as temperatures climb back up into the 50s. Then, the clouds will take over again later tomorrow as that next storm gets closer.
The warm front will pass through Sunday night, bringing some rain through. It will lift north of Maryland Monday, putting us back in some very warm but very unstable air. Temperatures will spike to the upper 60s and the winds will start to pick up again. We think that another round of gusty to possibly severe thunderstorms is possible Monday. The Storm Prediction Center has already put Maryland in a slight risk (level 1 on a 3 level risk system) for severe weather on Monday. There is the chance for some rain through Monday night before this cold front finally clears us (or maybe even Tuesday morning if it slows down…and there have been signs that is a possibility).
We will get a break in the stormy weather later Tuesday before another storm passes through the Great Lakes and New England Wednesday. Expect some clouds and maybe some gusty winds (not as strong as the recent rounds) as the front moves by, but most of the moisture will this one should stay north of us. Temperatures will top out in the 50s Tuesday and Wednesday, then drop to the 40s behind the front on Thursday.
We will be watching for another storm will move our way later Thursday into Friday again.
