Firefighter Hurt, Dozens Displaced In Blaze

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a firefighter was injured in a two-alarm blaze in a suburban Maryland apartment building.

The fire was reported about 7 p.m. in a 3-story garden style apartment building in Landover. Officials say the fire started in a second floor apartment kitchen and spread through the walls to the roof.

A firefighter was injured when he fell 12 to 15 feet from a ladder. He was in good condition at a local hospital.

The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

Fifteen apartments were rendered uninhabitable, displacing 22 adults and five children.
