GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Maryland forward Alyssa Thomas is the Atlantic Coast Conference’s rookie of the year in women’s basketball.
The ACC on Wednesday announced its awards for rookies. Thomas headlined the league’s all-freshman team and was joined on it by Duke’s Chelsea Gray, Georgia Tech’s Tyaunna Marshall, Virginia’s Ataira Franklin and Florida State’s Natasha Howard.
Thomas averaged 14.3 points and 7.2 rebounds and leads all ACC freshmen in scoring, rebounding and steals. She is the seventh Maryland player and fourth since 2005 to be named the league’s top rookie.
