Orioles' Matusz To Get Wart Removed From Finger

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- Orioles left-hander Brian Matusz will get a wart removed from the middle finger of his left hand and probably miss a start in spring training.

Matusz pitched two scoreless innings in Thursday's loss to Minnesota. He will have the procedure in Philadelphia on Friday and plans to return to the Orioles' camp later that night.

Baltimore manager Buck Showalter says Matusz noticed the wart late last season. Matusz, 24, was 10-12 with a 4.30 ERA last year.

It was the second health concern of the day for a Baltimore pitcher. Righty Koji Uehara was given a cortisone injection in his right elbow and was scratched from his scheduled appearance Thursday.
