Md. Pipe Organ Needs New Home

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Maryland man says he's looking for a new home for a 1927 Wurlitzer pipe organ that has spent the last 40 years in his home's basement.

Roy Wagner, 80, rescued the organ from the State Theatre, a Baltimore movie theater that closed in the mid-1960s and was later demolished. Wagner dismantled the instrument, moved it to his home in Glen Arm, then restored the organ, which has some 500 pipes. But maintaining the instrument has become difficult for Wagner.

Wagner says he won't give the organ to just anyone. He wants it to remain in Maryland, to be preserved and to be available to the public.
