Couple, Dog Rescued From Md. Creek

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Emergency officials say a couple and their dog were rescued after their pickup truck was swept away in Sideling Hill Creek.

It happened Sunday about 8:30 p.m. off Rizer Road. The Allegany County Swift Water Rescue Team freed Sam and Rena Turner of Little Orleans and their dog from the pickup.

Authorities say the Turners tried to drive across the creek when rapidly moving water swept their truck away. Rescuers used a boat to get the Turners from the bed of their truck to land.
