WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Darrion Pellum scored 23 points to lead Hampton to a 77-55 rout of Maryland-Eastern Shore Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament.

Hampton (22-8) advances to a Friday semifinal against the winner of Thursday’s game between sixth-seeded Norfolk State and third-seeded Coppin State.

The Pirates held Maryland-Eastern Shore to 29.7-percent shooting (19 of 64) and never trailed on the way to their third straight victory. Hampton, which beat the Hawks for the 17th time in the last 18 meetings, led 40-28 at halftime and continued building on its advantage until the 22-point final margin represented its biggest lead.

Kwame Morgan added 17 points for the Pirates and made 11 of 12 free throws on a night when his team made only 22 of 38 overall.

Hillary Haley led Maryland-Eastern Shore (9-22) with 17 points.
